AZEMMOUR
LESS TOURISTIC - MORE AUTHENTIC
Azemmour, a hidden gem along Morocco's Atlantic coast, was an unexpected highlight of my travels. Far removed from the typical tourist trail, this town offers an authentic Moroccan experience that's hard to find elsewhere.
One of the most striking features of Azemmour is the abundance of vibrant street art. The town is practically overflowing with colourful murals that adorn the walls of the medina and other areas. I recommend that you take your time wandering through the old town, as each turn reveals a new and surprising work of art.
Beyond the murals, Azemmour boasts a charming and historic medina that's well worth exploring. The narrow alleyways are lined with traditional shops and houses. The medina's architecture is a blend of Berber, Arab, and Andalusian influences, reflecting the town's diverse cultural heritage.
For a stunning panoramic view of Azemmour, head to the viewpoint across the river. From this vantage point, you can take in the entire town with its whitewashed buildings.
