FES

THE IMPERIAL CITY

Fes, a city steeped in history and tradition, exudes the quintessential Moroccan charm.
The city boasts a plethora of historical and cultural attractions.

For example the Royal Palace, with its ornate architecture and sprawling gardens. Or the city's numerous "Babs", or gates, each with its unique design and story to tell.

The Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a vibrant tapestry of sights, sounds, and smells. Its narrow, winding streets are a sensory overload.

The Medina is also home to several historical and religious sites, including ancient mosques, madrasas (Islamic schools), and fondouks (caravanserais). The Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, founded in the 9th century, is one of the oldest universities in the world and a centre of Islamic learning.

One of the most iconic attractions in Fes is the Chouara Tannery, where leather is still produced using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. The tannery is a fascinating, albeit pungent, experience, where you can witness the intricate process of transforming animal hides into supple leather.
